The KX5600 is one of our most popular ultrasound machines. Cost-effective, reliable, and well supported, it has three main versions:
- KX5600 for human use. Usually equipped with a convex probe for use in maternity clinics, or a linear probe for MSK or ultrasound-guided needle biopsy work, it is our most popular scanner for our international clients. We have recently supplied a large number of these scanners to Ukraine, but we also supply this machine for some NHS and research applications.
- Elite 5600 for veterinary use. This is the same as the KX5600v, but we adopt this terminology to differentiate it from specialist applications (such as reptile scanning). We equip the Elite 5600 with a convex or a microconvex probe, and it is most popular for small animal abdominal ultrasound, particularly for pregnancy detection in dogs and cats. We also have veterinarians in the United States who equip it with a linear rectal probe for equine reproductive use.
- KX5600v for specialist use. This is most frequently purchased by snake breeders who are interested in detecting follicles and, later, eggs. Detecting follicles allows owners to time the introduction of the male, and in some species of reptile, this is of life-or-death importance. In the Komodo dragon, ultrasound is used to detect follicles because if the male is introduced at the wrong time, the female will kill him!
What type of image quality can I expect?
There’s really no doubt that for under £2000 (pre-VAT), the KX5600v is the best ultrasound machine that money can buy right now – and this has been the case for the last several years. While it will never compete with something like the ScanX ultrasound machine for image resolution (sharpness), image quality is diagnostic for identifying the major organs or confirming pregnancy.
It’s a great choice for those just getting started with ultrasound, and every ultrasound machine purchased through us can be traded back in if you ever wish to upgrade in the future. This means that, as your skills and business grow, your equipment will always keep up.
